The alleged mastermind behind Saturday's grenade attack on the Criminal Court's car park was arrested in Mukdahan Thursday evening.
A woman, identified by security officials only as "Deer", was arrested after a suspect arrested earlier in connection with the grenade explosion, Wichai Yusuk, told police that a woman earlier identified as a possible mastermind was still in Thailand and not in Australia as previously thought.
The arrested woman was being brought to Bangkok early Friday to be put in a safe house and undergo military interrogation.
Inquiries found a woman answering her description was spotted recently crossing the Laos-Thailand border in Mukdahan.
The source said police found "Deer" was in contact with suspect Nattapat Onming on the Line chat application. Ms Nattapat allegedly ordered Yutthana Yenpinyo to throw the Soviet-era hand grenade last Saturday at the court's car park.
Mr Yutthana, 34 was apprehended along with Mahahin Khunthong, 34, after they were allegedly caught throwing an RDG-5 grenade at the court's car park on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Nares Intharasopha – who is wanted on an arrest warrant issued on Monday by the Bangkok military court – has contacted Provincial Police Region 4, saying he would surrender to the Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) either Thursday evening or Friday morning, a police source said.
An earlier search of Mr Nares' home in Khon Kaen's Nong Song Hong district by a joint military-police team failed to find the suspect.
