Sending animals (living things) by mail is the latest controversy to hit Thailand Post, the post-privatization name of Thailand's old-style government postal service.

Two tortoises were wrapped up in bubble wrap, duct tape and cardboard, brought to the post office and sent through the mail, just as if they were a normal parcel.

The tortoises were detected when water leaked out of the packages (or parcels)  which damaged other packages.

Luckily, postal workers found the turtles before it was too late.

Not only is sending living things through the mail against postal regulations, it is very dangerous for the animals too. The animals might die from either suffocation, starvation or physical trauma. Sending animals in the mail is clearly also an act of animal cruelty.
