WHY DR. AMBEDKAR ACCEPTED BUDDHISM
“Buddhism, unlike other religions, does not believe in the caste and class system. Buddhism believes in ‘Kamma’ and the fruits of one’s action. That’s why Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar studied all religions of the world and accepted Buddhism. Buddhism is a logical and scientific religion and it showed you the right path of humanity”
So said, the world famous Bhante Arayawangso Mahathero Guruji from Thailand.
The Buddhist Revival Charitable Trust (BRCT) organized ‘Dhamma Deshna’ program in Balgandharva Hall in Pune. Ven. Arayawangso was speaking on that occasion. And that time when he was speaking on the dice, the Chairman of BRCTBhante Bodhipalo, Bhante Saribuddho...etc., the Chief Information Commissioner of Maharashtra, Mr. Ratnakar Gaikwad were also present on the dice.
While giving his Dhamma Desana Ven.Arayawangso further said, all the miseries in the world arise in the mind ‘Citta’. That’s why we should find out where exactly the misery arises in the mind. That has to be discovered and for that purpose we should all do vipassana. Through Vipassana we can observe the passions and hatred in our mind and we can make all this passions and mind aloof. We can take it in isolation. Through ‘Samadhi’ one understands what is ‘Nama’ and ‘Rupa’ and that they are ‘Anicca’. This we can experience at the experiential level. Through vipassana, through proper path we can eradicate our misery (dukkha)/ passions and that will give rise to wisdom or panna. We should all follow the path shown by the Buddha. That is what Ven. Arayawangso said.
Then on behalf of Upasak sangha, the Chief Information Commissioner, Mr. Ratnakar Gaikwad made introductory speech. He said in his speech that Ven. Arayawangso wants India to lead the Buddhist World. Mr. Gaikwad further said Samrat Ashoka gave Dhamma to the entire World and Dr. Ambedkar following Samrat Ashoka brought about religious Revolution in 1956. And this revolution has to move forward. This is the mission of Ven. Arayawangso. India has seen the Golden Days of Democracy which came after ‘Buddha Dhamma’. That can be repeated provided all of us come together and work on this path.
Hundreds of Upasakas and Upasikas in white dress with ‘Panchasheel’ Dhamma Flags were present in the function.
