Scientists probe suspicious home fires
Scientists from Songkhla's Thaksin University have begun an investigation into the cause of 200 small fires that have mysteriously erupted at a Phatthalung house, Post Today reports.
Local villagers in Tamot district have insisted the fires began spontaneously and stemmed from bad luck or malevolent spirits, but suspicions were raised recently when a Channel 8 news team captured a video of a female family member starting a fire, then feigning surprised alarm.

The video clip showed the woman manipulating a small pile of clothing inside the house, doing something to set it alight. She then called a young girl to point out the flames. Other family members immediately ran over to help combat the fire.
Post Today reports that yesterday Tamot district police invited house owner Lom Sakwan, his son Kittiya and his daughter-in-law in for questioning. All denied that anyone in the home was involved in setting the fires. Mr Kittiya said there was no reason for doing so. The woman seen in the video clip has also denied setting the fire.

Meanwhile, the scientists have set up 11 surveillance video cameras throughout the house and have fenced in the area, warning outsiders to stay away.
