Ratchanok fights her way to New Zealand Open trophy

Ratchanok Intanon will head into the world championships later this month with some renewed confidence.
In a season of some ups and a lot more worrying downs, the Thai top seed yesterday claimed her second title of the year after a thrilling 21-14, 16-21, 21-15 win over fifth seed Saena Kawakami of Japan in the final of the US$120,000 New Zealand Open.
The victory at North Shore Events Centre in Auckland followed her first win of the year at the Thailand Open in June, a success that ended her 14-month dry spell.
Having failed to defend all of her three Superseries titles in April, the victory will ease the pressure on the Thai star as she prepares for the world championships which will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, in two weeks' time.
Ratchanok became the youngest-ever world champion at the age of 18 when she won the title in 2013.
The draw for the championships, which will be held between Aug 21-27, will be made on Wednesday.
