A 22-wheel truck collided with a pedestrian footbridge outside Don Mueang airport Sunday night.
Luckily, no one died or was injured but there was one close call.
Taxi driver Chaianna Bubpha, 31, told police his view was obscured by dust and he had not seen the truck in the middle of the road in time to stop and had crashed into it.
The taxi driver was taking four foreign passengers from Suvarnabhumi airport to Don Mueang airport. All were safe.

WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED?
Since the footbridge was built far above the top of any car or truck, one might reasonably ask how such an accident could happen.
The bed of the truck raised up from the truck in transit hitting the footbridge which brought the truck to a sudden and swift stop.
The accident occurred around 11pm outside terminal 1 at the Don Mueang airport on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.

ACCIDENT SCENE
Police called to the accident scene found the truck stalled in the middle lane of the outbound route.
The rear tray of the truck had been torn from the housing.
Crumbled concrete and dust covered part of the road and a taxi had collided with the rear of the truck.
Long lines of traffic were backed up along the road.

TRUCK DRIVER'S STORY
Boonchu Sritan, 46, the truck driver was detained for questioning.
He said the hydraulic system had malfunctioned, causing the tray to rise and tilt and to hit the overhead bridge as he passed underneath it.
The pedestrian bridge was still out of use on Monday morning.
