Flames shot up the Onut BTS station this morning & dark smoke rose to the sky, but fire was quickly put under control & no one was hurt.

Scary looking fire at On Nut station at rush hour

This morning a fire below On Nut station caused a temporary closure of the BTS station during rush hour.

Luckily, no one was hurt or injured.

A fire started at around 7:30am below the station in a small shop (selling either food, coffee or clothing, reports differ).

Flames spread quickly and dark smoke the station walkway and platform of the Onut BTS station.

The fire gutted the area where the fire started.

Passengers at the station were evacuated, the station closed and trains ordered to pass by the station and not stop. 
 
Firefighters quickly arrived at the station and put out the fire in about 30 minutes before it could spread further.

Firefighters closed off Sukhumvit Road, reducing it to one lane so that the firefighters had room to bring in their fire engines and fire-fighting equipment.

The station was closed to 9am to let the smoke clear.

Forensic experts then moved in to determine the cause of the fire.
