Flames spread quickly through the wooden structure and firemen took several hours to bring it under control.

The large wooden house covering 600 square wah, or 1.5 rai, was built of teak (teakwood) and other precious woods, and was completely burned down.

The house was reportedly under the care of Khunthong Ou-ngern, a well-known businessman in Pattaya.

Mr Khunthong had yet to make any comment.
