Car rams motorcycle on purpose in Pattaya
Early in the morning yesterday (June 3, 2015) a very strange hit-and-run accident happened in Pattaya.
This hit-and-run was done on purpose. It was intentional.
In other words, the driver clearly meant to hit the motorist.
In most so-called "hit-and-run" accidents, a driver accidentally hits another car, motorcycle, cyclist or pedestrian.
Usually, the reason that a motorist hits another car is negligent driving or perhaps because they were driving drunk (in the US known as "driving under the influence" (DUI)).
Only in the movies do we see drivers ram or hit other cars on purpose, taking clear steps to hit another car or motorcycle on purpose.
To see this happen in real life is, or at least should be, quite frightening.
WHAT HAPPENED
Just after midnight yesterday, Panupan Suksamran, 32, had just left a restaurant he was eating at in Pattaya with his girlfriend.
Everything seemed perfectly normal when he pulled up to a traffic light. While waiting, he happened to see a white Toyota Vios waiting at the traffic light with a man driving and two women as passengers.
Then the traffic light turned green and a little bit past the traffic light, the white car strangely stopped and shifted into reverse.
Then as the couple drove by on their motorcycle the white car hit the gas and accelerated, aiming for the motorcycle.
The car then hit the motorcycle, sending the couple flying.
Luckily, the couple suffered only minor injuries but they have filed a report with the police.
Video footage of the whole strange intentional hit-and-run incident was captured on CCTV.
A 30,000 baht award has been offered for information leading to the arrest of the hit-and-run motorist.
