Bear fight on suburban US street

11/01/2014

For more than six minutes two bears engage in a slow-moving long drawn-out fight, growling at each other, making threatening gestures and from time to time wrestling and hitting each other with their paws.

The fight breaks out next to a house, then quickly moves down the hill the house is located on to the suburban street outside.

The two bears claw, push and charge each, one of the bears occasionally gains the upper hand for a while but the other bear eventually breaks free and the fight resumes.

The bears move to the side of the street as a car passes.

They finally slam into the neighbour's mailbox, knock over their plastic garbage can and then one bear lies pinned under the other bear as another car passes and stops to watch them fight.  X

A bear expert claims such fights are quite common and arise over girl bears during mating season.

The heroic cameraman who shot the original video put the video online in August and it quickly went viral, but the original video was quite jerky but someone stabilised it and put it back online and since then almost 900,000 netizens have viewed the video on YouTube.
