Four big concerts are coming despite the political crisis

If the Thai political situation doesn't scare them away (unlikely, says Bangkok Post's Entertainment editor Onsiri Pravattiyagul), there are four big concerts coming to Bangkok in the next few months.

The first is Bruno Mars whose "Moonshine Jungle Tour" is still on schedule for March 20 at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani. His star is definitely on the rise after a triumphant half-time Super Bowl show.

Onsiri is definitely looking forward to this one. "Not only has he churned out one hit after another, Mars is also a consummate performer, skilful multi-instrumentalist and avid dancer who composes music for himself, as well as others," she writes.

Mars, not Bruno, but Thirty Seconds to Mars, performs next on April 5 at Bitec, Bang Na. "Even if you’re not familiar with this award-winning rock outfit," writes Onsiri , "you might remember who Jared Leto is. Yes, it’s actor Jared Leto of Dallas Buyers Club fame. Actors in rock bands are nothing new here, but Leto’s Thirty Seconds to Mars simply does not suck in comparison to other bands with globally famous actors as members."

Onsiri sounds downright enthusiastic about the April 29 concert at Moonstar Studio featuring Explosions in the Sky. "This Texan quartet," she says," induces tears, stirs deep emotions and introduces resolutions on listening. To see Explosions live is also an experience in itself. April will no longer be the cruellest month when the post-rock titans come to town."

Finally, there is Taylor Swift who needs no introduction. She "is set to grace Thailand in June. The country pop princess has been in the news ever since she jumped off her horse, and started penning straight-up love songs for well-documented ex-boyfriends. Swifties, get ready now — you only have four months left!" Taylor Swift sings on June 9 at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani.

Tickets for all four concerts are are available at www.thaiticketmajor.com
