Two days his birth, the Royal baby has a name. It's George Alexander Louis, the name chosen by the Prince Williams and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton.

Wednesday morning update: What did they say?
William and Catherine spoke briefly to the media outside the hospital, but what did they say? The crowd was noisy so it was difficult to hear, but I think I have the conversation just about right
William: He's got a good pair of lungs on him, that's for sure (meaning he cries loudly). He's a big boy. He's quite heavy.
But, we're still working on a name. We'll have that as soon as we can. "It's the first time we have seen him really so we are having a proper chance to catch up." "Very emotional."
Catherine: "It's very emotional. It's such a special time. I think any parent will know what this feeling feels like."
William: "It's very special."
William (to the gathered reporters): I'll remind him of his tardiness when he gets a little older because I know how long you have been standing out here. So hopefully the hospital and you guys can all get back to normal now and we can go and look after him."
William (asked who the baby resembles) "He's got her looks, thankfully,"
"No, I am not sure about that."
William (asked about if the baby's name will be George): "Wait and see, people Wait and see."
William (asked if he had changed the baby's nappy yet.): "Done that,"
Catherine: "He's done that already. Very, very good,"
William (asked about the baby's hair) "He's got way more than me, thank God."
Early Wednesday morning update
William and Kate have shown off their newborn son outside the hospital where he was born.
Kate appeared happy and healthy despite her 12-hour ordeal the day before.
The baby was wrapped in a blanket, but at one point wiggled his toes to the delight of the cheering crowd.
The royal couple spent several minutes chatting with the media before going back outside. Shortly later they left by car for their Kensington Palace residence a short time away. William put the baby in a special car seat before taking the wheel himself.
Tuesday evening update
The world hasn't seen Duchess Kate's baby, but her parents have and we know now that the little prince is "absolutely beautiful".
Carole and Michael Middleton drove into town Tuesday from their estate in rural Bucklebury, posed briefly for the media outside the hospital and then had an hour visit with the proud mother and her newborn baby.
When they emerged afterward, they said little except that everything was going well.
The next big event, of course, will come when Kate and William leave the hospital with the little prince.
It's a boy for Kate and William
Prince William's wife Kate gave birth to a boy on Monday, the couple's first child and the third in line to the British throne, heralding celebrations in London and messages of goodwill from across the world.
"We could not be happier," Prince William said in a brief statement, after he witnessed the birth of his son at 4:24 p.m. (11:24 a.m. ET), an event that sparked an international media frenzy and the illumination of London landmarks in blue.
A notice formally announcing the birth of a son to Britain's Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, is placed in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace, in central London. It read:"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24 pm. "The baby weighs 8lbs 6oz The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth."
His office said Kate and the baby, weighing 8 lbs 6 oz (3.8 kg) and to be publicly named at a later date, were both doing well and would stay in hospital overnight.

Prince William phoned his grandmother the queen to give her the news, and also contacted his father Prince Charles and brother Prince Harry, all of whom were said to be delighted. The addition to the family is third in line to the throne after Prince Charles and William. Reuters
