"Yummy" hair colours for Thai women

Chocolate brown sits well with Asians

Hues for the hair that harmonise with the Thai complexion

Thailand’s top hairstylist Saisuda Chuawiwat, who runs the Ketvadi-Gandini salons and hairdressing academy.

This spring, hairdressers may feel like being chocolatiers as they draw inspiration from desserts to create luscious hair colour with L'Oreal Professionel's French Chocolate collection. The palette of yummy brown colours, according to the haircare and colour brand, particularly suits the Asian complexion.

"Who can refuse chocolate brown? It's such a lovely hue for hair that harmonises with the skin of Thai people," said Saisuda Chuawiwat, Thailand's top hairstylist and L'Oreal Professionel's master ambassador.

She personally likes brown and it's one of her three favourite shades.

"I used to only wear black and white until I discovered that brown is equally wearable," she said. "It's a classic colour, some shades of brown even mysterious, and chocolate brown can make you look good as much as feel good."

Choosing a hair colour should be based on skin tone and personality, she further advised, and the French Chocolate collection offers three choices – Milk, Sweet, and Dark Chocolate – that can be combined with various highlight colours to create a signature chocolatey hair colour.

"This collection allows clear communication between hairdressers and their customers, who can simply say they want milk, sweet or dark chocolate hair colour," said Saisuda. "If they are not sure about the best brown, hairdressers can suggest whether they should have a bright or dark tone, a warm or a cool shade."

Doing hair colour may compare to baking cakes. The bright brown, Milk Chocolate can pair with caramel highlight, using layering technique inspired by the opera cake, for a stunning effect.

Multicoloured macaroons became an inspiration for hair colouring based on Sweet Chocolate with highlight colours, such as hazelnut brown or blonde with a purple shimmer, comparing to the filling of the confectionery.

And can you imagine how a chocolate fondant cake can be translated into hair colour? With Dark Chocolate as the main colour, a green highlight was used to soften the look, and this green is inspired by the mint flavouring the fondant cake.

Saisuda noted that having healthy hair allows one to have it coloured with beautiful results. Those who often have their hair coloured need to pay more attention in caring for the hair with a good shampoo, conditioner and treatment products.

"In a hot and humid climate, hair can't naturally look beautiful. It needs help.
